SUMMARY: "Dean's time has run out... With Bobby at their side, the brothers battle Lilith and her demonic army in a last, desperate attempt to save Dean from eternal damnation."

MY THOUGHTS

*Yet another Indiana ep!

*The cop's car is #54. LOL.

*New Harmony, IN, what an odd place for demons...as it was started as a religious utopia cooperative sort of place...

*Lilith, whatever sort (or rank) of demon she is, has white eyes and can put out some sort of super white light that kills people...

*Ruby says that Sam's powers didn't die with Azazel, they just went dormant. And she says it's not just visions...I REALLY wish they'd shown us everything Sam could do. I'm guessing he could do everything that Jake and Ava could do...could have come in handy in Season 5, you know? Wish they hadn't dropped that plotline.

THINGS I LIKED ABOUT THIS EP

*That Dean died. I KNOW that's horrible, especially since I'm marginally a Dean girl. But if they'd found some cheap way out of it, it just wouldn't have given us the dramatic impact, we wouldn't have gotten Lazarus Rising or Castiel...and it's nice for once that they weren't able to figure everything out. It's just more realistic. And sadder. And we get to see Sam cry. And Dean ripped apart by invisible dogs. Which was gnarly.

*Dean being able to see the demons, and his hallucinations, etc. These things really add to the creepy feel of the episode.

*Lilith is one creepy-ass evil demon. Seriously. The scariest one we've seen yet. By far. Even scarier than what we saw of Azazel.

*Lilith can't do anything to Sam, it appears. And she looks rather scared about this. So his powers are...stronger than hers? Makes sense if he's there for Lucifer, whether or not that's in the writers minds yet or not.

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THIS EP

*Lilith creeped me out! I know, I know, not a bad thing, but it goes in both places.

*Why was Dean so against going to New Harmony? That seemed to kind of come out of nowhere...

*The ending would be super cruel if I hadn't had my Season 4 DVDs beside me the first time I watched. ;)

I know The Angel Plot is what cranks the show up to eleven officially, but this episode here for me is when it officially becomes Epic Show. Yeah, Dean had to die. He couldn't let Buffy show him up. And they put a twist on the Sacrifice plot by turning it into something that is actually unhealthy and rooted in lack of self-worth (though also love, of course).

They could pick the psychic stuff back up at any time.

HOW did the dog manage to avoid the face? That is not so realistic ;)

Lillith is wonderful. They cast that kid WELL.

I think by that episode the writers did have an idea of where things were going, actually.

Dean didn't want Sam to be in any kind of danger, that's why he didn't want to go to New Harmony.

I think I had at least a week between finishing s3 and the start of s4. I'm just glad I didn't watch it live. Yes, it was the best kind of painful.

(Get some sleep, dude!)
