Little Things I Noticed

*This is the first ep where Dean's necklace really comes into play

Things I Liked About this Ep
*We'd been hearing a lot about how Sam felt about hunting, it was nice to get a little bit from Dean's point of view. Even though the shifter obviously gave his feelings in the worst possible light, they were probably actually legitimate feelings that Dean just cared too much about Sam to voice. Interesting to hear about Dean's abandonment issues (which totally makes sense...his mom left, Sam left, then his dad left...). Also makes sense that he'd be jealous of Sam for getting away, having friends, a life...

*Also interesting to hear Dean talk about how lonely his life is. It's true, and makes sense, but I like that they aren't totally glorifying the hunter lifestyle.

*Liked the parallels between Dean and the Shifter, and how the Shifter seemed to identify with him.

*It was sad how at the end Sam seems to be starting to realize (he tells his friend that his call could be a long time in coming) that if he's going to do this, he can't have friends either. :(

*I liked that they gave at least a little moral ambiguity to the shifter. He was bad now, yes, but maybe he hadn't always been so. Maybe he'd just been corrupted by a sad and lonely life...parallel to what's going on with the boys.

*Great music in this ep. Stood out.

Things I Didn't Like About This Ep

*Why did the shifter keep them alive? No good reason was given.

*How was the shifter getting Dean's thoughts? That was never explained.

*It would have been nice to see real!Zach. I spent a lot of the show thinking the real Zach had been killed by the shifter.
