Little Things I noticed:

*Sam still doesn't have ID's of his own. They're also still not dressing up to in any way appear like agents of whatever bureau they're members of.

*The toy soldiers. This is the Bookend episode to Swan Song. It is mentioned that Dean played with Toy Soldiers before Chuck's narration. It's a quick mention in one episode, but it does help.

*Jared's eyes are green here. I KNOW they're brown later. Contacts, or color-changing eyes?

*Sam still cares a lot more about finding their dad and catching Jess's killer than the M.O.T.W. stuff.

*Dean seems to be almost procrastinating the search for his dad. Is he trying to keep Sam around?

*Sam seems willing to leave in the middle of a case. Weird. This is another parallel with their dad, though, who left in the middle of the Lady in White case to follow a lead on Mary's killer. Looks like for John and Sam that nothing is more important than their revenge.

Things I Liked About this Episode

*Overall, it was a good M.O.T.W. Better than Wendigo, for sure. The story was creepy, the investigation was much better than Wendigo (meaning that they weren't suddenly out of nowhere like "woah, it's a Wendigo!" - they actually had to talk to people and do some research).

*Dean's smooth act doesn't work on the mom (at least at first). Love it. It's fun to see someone not interested in Dean.

*Sam's reaction to Dean going on and on about how cool kids are.

*The fact that we find out that Dean actually IS good with kids, and seems to actually rather like them. Gives us insight into his relationship with Sammy in the past, and Ben in the future.

*I like that the spirit gave Lucas and his mom up, once he got the dad. Almost a touch of mercy there. At least, I assume that he gave the mother up, although we don't actually see for certain that he's stopped going after her.

*I liked Dean's memories and reaction to his mother's death. The whole "my mom would have wanted me to be brave" thing was really touching and gives us insights into Dean's character.

Things I Didn't Like About this Episode

*Again, the lighting seems weird. Are they just going for "lighting a la creepy"? If so, they stop doing it later, because I don't remember it from the later seasons.

*The silent creepy kid is a little cliched. Actually, creepy children in scary stuff are way overdone. Of course, they still are creepy. So whatever.

*I don't like the fact that we don't know for sure that the spirit is gone. It's not destroyed, it just disappears. Why couldn't it come back?

Rating: M.O.T.W: B+
