SUMMARY: "Sam and Dean must hunt a cannibalistic creature who has not yet hurt human beings or done anything wrong."
MY THOUGHTS
*This is the ep where Dean discovers that Sam and Ruby are still training together, and that Sam is using his powers, and has been using them since Dean left
*This is, I believe, the second ep where Dean brutally hits Sam.
*This is the second time that they hunt someone who hasn't done anything wrong. The first one is Bloodlust, with Lenore and her coven of 'vegetarian' vampires. Of course, Jack does EVENTUALLY do something wrong.
THINGS I LIKED ABOUT THIS EP
*We finally get to see into Sam's mind a little.
*I really like brunette!Ruby
*Sam's identification with Jack is really touching, and really sad. A monster who can't control what's inside him, struggling not to turn bad. Of course, the whole moral of the story is that he can't change it, which is just heartbreaking.
*It was Travis who made Jack snap, not nature. Jack was resisting it until he threatened his wife. Very tragic circumstances there.
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THIS EP
* I don't like it when Dean hits Sam. Talk about rage. And he's done it more than once, most recently in 6:06 'You Can't Handle the Truth'. I hate it every time I see it.
*I'd forgotten how much of a jerk Cass is this early. :) He becomes one of my favorite characters, but man, he changes.

SUMMARY: "A good old-fashioned vampire hunt becomes something much more bizarre as classic film monsters terrorize a town during Oktoberfest."
MY THOUGHTS
*I always end up feeling sorry for SPN shifters. They always just seem so sad and lonely and pitiful and unloved and hated by their parents. I'm always sad when it turns out that they have to die at the end.
*The "And...scene" by the shapeshifter totally reminded me of this:
THINGS I LIKED ABOUT THIS EP
*It was very creative. The black and white and the music were cool, as were the "oooh, creepy" classical horror movie shots like the moon in the trees and stuff.
*I actually liked the monster. I did feel a little sorry for him and was sad to see him killed
*I can take an unrelated MOTW this early in the season. I can deal with that.
*Dean in Liederhosen.
*The Shifter's totally normal house with a dungeon in the basement, lol
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THIS EP
*Too much concentration on Dean's conquests. Yeah, we get it. He's not gotten laid since he got out of hell. Ok, move on. It kind of seems like Dean getting laid was the point of the whole episode, which was a bit annoying.
*Unrelated MOTW in Season 4...while I can handle it this early in the season...annoys me a little. Season 4 is so full of awesome that I want back to the main plot.

SUMMARY: "Sam and Dean have 48 hours to stop a supernatural affliction from killing Dean with fear."
MY THOUGHTS
*This is the episode where we discover that Dean does remember Hell
*This is also the episode where we learn about "Doggie Years" in Hell...one month=ten years, so Dean was in for 40 years
*Bobby speaks Japanese
*The guy who plays Luther appears to be taller than Jared. Holy crap.
THINGS I LIKED ABOUT THIS EP
*Terrified!Dean is funny.
*Loved the "Eye of the Tiger" at the end. I'd seen it on YouTube, but I missed it the first time I watched the ep, guess I just turn it off too fast. :)
*Dean hallucinating about Sam!Azazel/Sam's demon powers. Shows how much it really terrifies him, what Sam is doing
*Love Dean running from the pink-ribboned Yorkie
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THIS EP
*I hated how they had to get rid of the ghost. Hated it. :( It was sooo heartbreakingly sad and just really, really awful. That poor guy, murdered for being (apparently) mentally handicapped and misunderstood has to go through that all over again. Breaks my heart. Maybe it if had been a ghost who DESERVED such a horrible end (twice) it wouldn't have upset me so much, but God, he was just a guy who probably didn't understand what was going on in the first place, terrified and scared, and then they put him through it AGAIN. Seems...really, really awful. And so does the celebrating afterwards. Thumbs down on that one, writers.

SUMMARY: "Sam and Dean investigate a witch case and find out that they have to confront the powerful demon of Halloween, who only rises every 600 years... "
MY THOUGHTS
*PLEASE look up the pronunciation of Samhain. Please. kthxbai.
*In this review, I'm going to totally and utterly ignore the bastardization of Samhain. SPN is fiction, and I'm going to enjoy it as fiction.
*This is the episode where we first meet Uriel.
*This is the episode where Sam first meets Castiel.
*Uriel all but tells Sam that Dean remembers hell, and has been lying to him, and insinuates that what he did there wasn't all good
*It's in this episode that Castiel admits that he has doubts, after swearing Dean to secrecy
*Lucifer's not the only angel who doesn't like humans...just listen to Uriel. Castiel seems to find them "beautiful works of art" though.
*Samhain's eyes are whitish. Not Lilith white, but more like that than any of the other demons we've seen. Maybe white-eyed demons are higher on the pay scale?
THINGS I LIKED ABOUT THIS EP
*It was a cool story, with the main plot, and with the angel subplot. I like most of the ones that involve the breaking of seals, they all have this desperate feel to them, and they always fail.
*We get to see Sam's powers again. I don't see why they're so upset with him - he was right in saying that he would have died, Dean would have died, and a WHOLE bunch of other people would have died if he hadn't used them. He tried to use the knife first, it got knocked away.
*Sam's fangirling over Castiel is rather adorable
*Dean saying if he could choose his form he'd be a sexy cheerleader, lol
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THIS EP
*Please learn to say Samhain. Please.
*Again, witches are evil. It seems in SPN, at least to this point, witches are all stupid or evil. Gets a bit old. This witch isn't just human, though...she's 600 years old. So she's more than the other witches we've met.
*Dean and Sam are starting to grow apart, with the blood drinking, and the secrets Dean is keeping from Hell
