MY THOUGHTS
*This is the ep where we first meet Samuel and Deanna Campbell, and find out where Sam and Dean got their names
*This is the ep where we first find out Mary (Campbell) Winchester was a hunter
*This is the ep where we find out how Azazel came to be in Sam's nursery that night
*This is the ep where we discover the history of the Impala
*This is the ep where we meet Young John Winchester
*Castiel has no trouble whatsoever zapping Dean around in time in this ep
THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS EP
*I'm a sucker for time-travel stuff. Always have been, always will be. We don't know much about Supernatural's version of time travel, whether we can change the past or not. Knowing that the past is never changed (with the possible exception of 'The End', but that's a little different) I would say no. Castiel says that you can't change destiny - that all roads lead to one place. Whether that means that the past "course-corrects" like in LOST, or if you just can't change it at all is up for interpretation.
*According to Azazel, apparently only angels are strong enough to zap people around in time
*I like that Mary was the hunter in the relationship, not John. And apparently she never told him anything about it at all.
*Poor Dean, making her promise not to get out of bed on November 2, 1982. :( Very sad.
THINGS I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THIS EP
*Not nearly enough Sam. I know that this is a Dean ep, but Sam's in it for all of what, less than a minute? I guess it's in Season 4 that they start pulling away from Sam, and I'm really not sure why. I'd like to get more of what he's doing with Ruby, and they just don't show us much of that. It seems that from here on out, it's mostly from Dean's point of view. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I think Sam kind of gets the short end of the stick. I mean, where's the ep that Dean's in for less than a minute that features Sam? Oh, wait, there isn't one.
