See, I guess I'm in the opposite situation.

I did do what I wanted to do, despite what my parents wanted.

My family was constantly trying to pressure me into journalism or law, when what I really wanted to do was research (yes, it's geeky, but we all have our dreams). To be honest, I've never been happier. I'll never get rich this way, but I'll be satisfied in ways that money could never make me ( *waiting for obscene comments on that*).

Money is only part of happiness, Swordy. I'm not going to say it's nothing - because it does matter. But it certainly isn't everything, and if your heart is in writing, you have to write.
